World first Gay Police Marriage

Unprecedented event in LGBT World History

One of the first nations in the world to embrace gay marriage equality back in 2005, Spain continues to do the LGBT community proud.

Madrid Pride is an enormously successful celebration, and the country is very accepting of same-sex relations. We showed in a previous article that Spain is the World’s most GAY friendly country.

Two gay policemen were married in Jerez de la Frontera, a city in southern Spain’s Andalusia region, on September 5, 2015, while dressed in their full police uniforms, in what many believe is a world first in the LGBT world community.

Congrats to a happy, beautiful gay couple!

In an interview with a Spanish radio station, the couple, who are being referred to as Chema and Jonathan by Spanish media, said they have lots of gay friends and allies in the police force.

If it helps someone who is being bullied in school for their sexual orientation to see it as something normal, then that’s great,” Chema said. “It’s not something that should be hidden just because you belong to a particular institution.”

The couple was married at the Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art and did a road tripping from Seattle to San Diego for their honeymoon.
